Condition-Based Maintenance network

The Condition-Based Maintenance network for the European oil and gas industry exists to establish, promote and share best practices and lessons learnt amongst its membership. It is primarily focused on the upstream oil and gas sector, and condition-based maintenance (CBM) ranging from platform topsides dynamic (eg rotating) and static applications, to seabed and downhole systems.

The European Drilling Engineering Association

The objective of the European Drilling Engineering Association (DEA(e)) is to improve access to and use of drilling technology on a worldwide basis through ongoing knowledge sharing and supply chain stimulation.

Deepwater Installation of Subsea Hardware

The goal of the DISH JIP is to study the technical problems associated with installing subsea hardware in very deep water (>2000m) and to contribute to the development of solutions to these problems. 28 companies have been involved in Phases 1 and 2 of DISH, including 9 oil and gas operators, 6 major contractors and 13 specialist supply companies.

Expandable Technology Forum

The aim of the ETF is to become the primary worldwide knowledge sharing forum for this important technology, and its specific objectives are:
  • To increase awareness of expandable technology throughout the industry.
  • To stimulate learning, technology transfer and knowledge sharing by discussion of case studies
  • To develop the market for expandable products through discussion of products and applications
  • To agree industry common definitions and terminology

Facilities Engineering Association

The Facilities Engineering Association (FEA) is a new pan-industry operator network focusing on upstream oil and gas facilities technology. The network is open to all oil company operators and duty holders. The network currently comprises of eight leading North Sea operators. The FEA meets three times a year, each meeting lasting 1 day (usually hosted by a member company based in Aberdeen).

Flexible Risers

As the demand for gas export from deepwater fields is increasing, the likelihood of many more assets experiencing this phenomenon is high. Currently the problem is being handled by:
  • Improving pipe integrity (bracing or removing potentially weak connections)
  • Reducing the "quality"¹ factor of piping acoustic modes
  • Reducing the interaction between source and resonator (using an acoustic block between the riser and associated piping)
As this phenomenon is likely to affect most offshore operators, the most appropriate way of increasing the level of understanding and developing remedial solutions was deemed to be via a Joint Industry Project.

Geopressure Management Network

The Geopressure Management Network (GMN) currently consists of 8 oil company members with the aim of sharing knowledge in the management of formation pore pressure for exploration and drilling. The GMN is an operator only network which meets twice a year for day and a half network meetings.

Intelligent Well Interface Standardisation

The recent IWIS Implementation JIP saw the successful demonstration of IWIS compliance. More than 30 companies across three continents share the development of a global standard that can save the subsea oil and gas sector millions of pounds in future years. The JIP Sponsors are: BP, Chevron, ENU, Petrobras, Statoil and Total.
